This Avid Media Composer Mojo edit suite here in Brighton & Hove means
that I can shoot and edit anything from a short package to a complete programme.
The edit workstation has recently been replaced with one of the latest
machines, running the most up-to-date Media Composer software.
Housed in a purpose-built area which comfortably seats three people, the suite also features a voice-over studio with room for two. The system is designed to make the most of digital shooting, capture, editing and playout using DVCAM and DV. The suite can accept footage from other formats. Play-in from DVCAM (small or large
tapes), Betacam SP (small or large tapes) , DV, DVD, Digital8, Hi8 and
Video8. Other tape formats by arrangement. Play-out to DVCAM, Betacam SP, DV or DVD. Other formats by arrangement. DVDs can be created either in the edit suite or by using a DVD video recorder. Voice-overs can be recorded direct to DVCAM or onto CD. There's a couple of decent mics and compressor/limiter. The voice-over booth has been used for projects as varied as relaxation techniques and football commentary. You'll find a healthy wi-fi signal for the producer's laptop. | I use my edit suite regularly to cut VT packages for The Politics Show (Sunday lunchtimes, BBC One South East). Since 2005 I've edited the VTs for 35 programmes a year, as well as shooting them and doing camera on the live OBs. |

My feature-packed laptop editing
system with Avid software lets me edit almost anywhere!
The laptop edits direct from DVCAM, and comes with a mini-DV / DVCAM machine with built-in monitor and a pair of powered loudspeakers. There's a Coles lip microphone for location voice-over, too.
