Hello!

Next time you need to shoot in the Brighton area, or south of London, why not use a local crew? With less travel time, it's likely to be much more cost-effective than sending in people from London or beyond.  I've been shooting for broadcast in Sussex since 1989.

Crewing directories and services
	Mandy's Directory is a world-wide database of film and television people and facilities.  Staggeringly useful, if you're into this sort of thing.
	TV Freelancers is an online community which aims to raise, discuss and address some of the difficult issues facing freelancers.  Sharing information, increasing the bargaining power of individuals, and removing some of the isolation in which they work are also on the cards.
	CameraCrews has hundreds of crew members listed.
	4 Regional Film & Video features news, jobs and a crew directory.
	FaTCaT stands for Film and Television Craft and Technology, and this massive mog is full of film and TV information.
	UKscreen aims to include a crew directory, video clips and a noticeboard, and is aimed at film-makers, crew and distributors.  My entry.
	TVZ has news video for sale and information for news cameramen, journalists and uplinkers.  There's a crew directory as well.
	TVcameramen is the website for professional television cameramen.  And women.   The site boasts a selection of "screw-ups".
	Crewbus is a directory of freelance members of the Broadcast, Entertainment, Cinematograph and Theatre Union, or BECTU to its friends.
	Film-tv.co.uk's aim is "primarily to showcase experienced film and television personnel, job vacancies, production companies and facilities/associated companies."
	Wired Sussex is a handy collection of happening new-millennium Sussex-based dudes. A recent survey revealed that Sussex contains over 78kg of multimedia per head of population - a world record, and one of which we in Sussex are justifiably proud.
	Media UK is a directory of ... er ... media in the UK.
	Kay Media - Sourcing, advertising, promotion and marketing for the film TV, video and broadcast industries.
	Broadcast Video's huge list of (mainly American) freelancers.
	Shoots describes itself as an international production crew resource.
	Welcome to mediapersonnel, the free-to-use worldwide database of media freelancers.
	StageAccess says that it was created to link the individuals and companies that make up the entertainment industry.  There's a free directory.
	B-roll is an American site which helps you find "photogs" for your next shoot.  "B-roll"?  "Photog"?  It's all a bit of a mystery to us Europeans, but it looks like an interesting site.
	Use Kemps to search for over 37,000 production services companies from 115 countries worldwide.  Use it to find everything from aerial photography to video equipment, location services, crew and much more.
Organisations
	The Guild of Television Cameramen A fearsome gang of lens-wielding maniacs. (surely "organised group of highly-skilled professional camera-people"?  Ed).
	BECTU, the UK's broadcasting union.
